Fenix LD05 Penlight Flashlight — Cree XP-E LED

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Fenix has come out with their own version of a penlight.  It runs on 2 AAA batteries and is 5.88 inches long.

Unlike most penlights it uses a high output XP-E (R2) LED that provides up to 100 lumens max output.  When you don’t need that much light you have the option of selecting either 4 lumens or 32 lumens.

The tail cap switch is of push button design.  The head, tail, and pocket clip are made of stainless steel, while the main body is aluminum with a type III hard-anodized finish.

Fenix TK40 Flashlight — MC-E LED

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

If you are looking for a nice high power flashlight you can’t go wrong with the Fenix TK40.

It features a four-core Cree MC-E LED that puts out up to 630 lumens via the 8 AA batteries.

One nice feature about this LED light is that it can also run on only 4 AA batteries in an emergency.

This Fenix flashlight also features 4 different output levels (turbo, low, medium, high) and 4 strobe modes (strobe, slow flash, SOS, fast flash).

Overall length is approx 8.2 inches and the body is T6 aircraft grade aluminum with a type III hard-anodized finish.

It is waterproof to the IPX-8 standard and comes with a lanyard/shoulder strap for ease of carry.

Fenix TK30 Flashlight — Cree MC-E LED

Friday, February 26th, 2010

If you are looking for a nice super bright flashlight then I have good news.  I just added the Fenix TK30 to my site.

The TK30 uses a multi-chip Cree MC-E led to provide up to 630 lumens of brightness.

Another great thing about this Fenix is that it can be run via muliple battery combinations depending on whether or not the extension tube has been attached.

Without the extension tube it will run on 2 CR123A batteries or one 18650 rechargeable battery.  With the extension it can run on either 4 CR123A batteries or 2 18650 rechargeable batteries.  The extension tube is included and doesn’t have to be purchased separately.

Overall length with the extension tube is just under 9 inches which is a nice size.

It is constructed from aircraft grade aluminum and has been given a tough type III hard-anodized finish.

Three modes of operation are available each with two different output levels:

Searching Mode — 100 lumens & 630 lumens

Camping Mode — 12 lumens & 175 lumens

Hunting Mode — Strobe & 630 lumens

Fenix LD01, E20, and E01 LED Flashlights

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

If you are a Fenix fan I have good news.  I just added a few more models to my site.

First is the super small 2.8 inch E01 keychain light.  It produces 10 lumens via a Nichia LED and will run for around 21 hours on a single AAA battery.  As is common with Fenix the aluminum body has been type III hard-anodized so it will stand up to abuse.

I have the olive version available here:

Next up is the LD01 Fenix.  This is also a single AAA flashlight; however, the LD01 is much brighter at around 80 lumens.  It also has medium and low output levels.

Overall length is only 2.95″ and comes with a type III hard-anodized finish.  A keyring and a removable pocket clip is included along with a spare rubber 0-ring.

Finally, their is the E20 flashlight.  This is a focus adjustable light and produces 109 lumens via 2 AA batteries.  The LED used is a Cree 7090 XR-E (Q2) that has a life span of around 50,000 hours.

The type III hard-anodized aluminum body is only 6 inches and features what Fenix likes to call a “big head”.  That is, the head of the flashlight is bigger than its body.

Run time for this focusable flashlight is approximately 3.3 hours, and maximum throw is around 100 meters.

Unlike the first two lights witch feature a twist type switch, the E20 has a push button tailcap switch with momentary on capability.
